About Us

Our club night is Friday:

From 5:45pm-7:15pm for our division 4 players.

From 6:15pm-7:45pm for our Division 3 players.

From 6:45pm-8:45pm for our Division 1 and 2 players.

Please contact the secretary Mr Alec Aslett for further information (On our Contact Us page).

We meet at Camberley Baptist Church Hall, Frimley Road, GU15 3EN.  For directions to our premises see the bottom of the page.

We welcome Beginners, Intermediate and Advanced Juniors. We only accept Beginners who know how all the pieces move and know the rules of chess. We do not have the staff to be able to teach complete Beginners as they require one-on-one tuition.

We run internal rated Competitions which are graded by the English Chess Federation (ECF). On average our juniors will get to play between 25 and 50 rated games over a calendar year - This saves a lot of travelling going to various tournaments. Our total Prize fund is currently £5,000 of which £3,000 was made up of 30 individual cash prizes. We currently have 60 Juniors who are all ECF Graded Members.

The club is divided into four divisions: Advanced Juniors Division 1 and 2. Intermediate Division 3. Beginner (But not complete Beginner) Division 4. All four Divisional tables are shown on our website with current standings.

We place a lot of emphasis on coaching and right up to National standard. We have 4 adult Coaches all of whom are DBS registered. Since opening our club five of our juniors have been selected to play in the England National Team.

Any of our juniors showing excellent progress and international potential are rewarded by playing in our adult team which has Grandmaster Nick Pert (British Champion) playing. Several juniors have achieved this. See our resource page to get an idea of what our juniors are learning. A lot of emphasis is placed on Tactics which is a key component to becoming a strong player.
