Our aim is to improve a child’s chess standard to International level but in a fun way. In 2014 two of our juniors (Oliver & Nikhil) qualified to play for England!
We meet every Friday from 6.30pm at Camberley Baptist Church, Frimley Road, Camberley, GU15 3EN (see directions here). We have a large Junior membership. There is parking off Sullivan Road which is almost opposite us (see directions here). It is free from 6pm and is only a minute’s walk away. There is also a free car park at the back of the church.
Annual membership is £110 or £120 if paid by monthly Direct Debit or S/O. Family membership is offered at a reduced rate. More details here.
Our guest fee is £5 for visitors who attend on an occasional basis.
We play in two local leagues within Surrey and Berkshire. We have six teams. Juniors are encouraged to play in matches in both leagues and at adult level!
Children attend from many different schools: Hall Grove, Yateley Manor, Lyndhurst, Hawthorns, St Pauls, St John’s and many others. The children feel very comfortable and quickly settle in as they can relate to their own age groups.
We hold regular fun activities which are very popular; these activities follow the chess tuition period. Regular favourites are Ice-cream Night and Pizza Night. We also run an Early Bird competition with excellent prizes for all age categories.
Another regular activity is our quarterly tournament with cash prizes for all participating juniors. Last year we paid over £1200 in cash prizes!
